Reference dosn't update.

Please see attached files. The holes on the HSS is projected from the plate. And the plate is moving with the horizontal angle. The two angles and the HSS are made by FG. I moved the angle by changing the skeleton sketch. The plate moved with the angle but the hole on HSS wou't move. But it doesn't show any problem with the reference either. Every time I open the assembly file, it ask me if I want to update the file. I chose yes and did re-build all. The holes are still not moving.

I looked at your model. Somehow the adaptivity seems to not take affect when the cross part projection is made. I am not sure if the Adaptive setting becomes disabled because the Frame Generator. I tried recreating it to see if something got changed to make that effect. The only other possibility is that you have that part adaptive somewhere else already, but I find that unlikely because this is a Frame Generator channel.

A workaround for this would be to link the parameters of the Skeleton to the parameters of the channel with the holes. When the skeleton is updated, it would push the parameter change to the channel, thereby moving the holes.

We are sorry to see that you are having issues with Frame Generator.

How did you create the holes on the HSS?

I am not seeing any hole actions for the HSS.

Thanks for the reply. The holes are make by editing the frame member in the assembly. Select the part, right click and edit. After you edit the frame member, if you open the part file in a new window, you won't be able to see the features. I thought this is how Inventor works as it's always works this way for me. If you want to see the features, you have to select the part in the asembly and edit (or double click the part). The features will show up. I project the hole locations from the other part in this way.

Hi Solson, when I made the holes on HSS, the center of the holes are projected from the plate with holes. And the projected circle shows the projection symbol. After the skeleton is modified, when I do the prjection again, the projected circle shows a lock symbol, not the projection symbol anymore. Do you know in what condition that will make this happen? As I know if it shows the projection symbol, the projected line should update with the original object, but if it's projected as lock, it won't update later. In my case, it still shows the projection symbol but doesn't update.

I found that if I did the following it worked:

deleted the holes
recreated the sketch
removing the fixed constraints that are automatically created (this step is the key)
recreated 11/16 holes

Thanks for the reply. Did you update the framework assmebly after you change the sketch? I tried but I doesn't work for me. Also, when you delete the constrains on the new sketch, the sketch is not reference to the holes where they projected from. You can also see the sketch is not adaptive anymore. If the holes on the HSS moves with the holes on the plate, that will be really strange to me.

You will notice in the video that I changed the sketch at the end and the holes moved.

If you follow the steps in the video, does it not work for you?

I did follow all youe steps. Can you try change the sketch again and change the height to 50" and see if it works?

I went back into the assembly and made more changes and it is not behaving as expected.

I will need to send this to our development staff for them to take a look at.
