G thread type

Hi Team

I came across some G6, G7,G8 .. threads.

I couldn't find the G thread above sizes in the hole - tap feature.

Is this available with any other feature?

Checking in my Machinery's Handbook 25th edition, BSP threads only go up to 6" BSP.
It maybe aa custom thread, best to check with the original author.

There are a few thread forms (like BSP) with the prefix "G".

Do need a particular thread form? If so, which one - it will help narrow down the search.

(You're not getting mixed up with geometric limits and fits are you?)

To see all the thread forms Inventor can access, have a look at the Excel spread sheet in:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2024\Design Data\XLS\en-US\thread.xls

Note: You might need to change the \en-US\ folder to suit your language installation. Also note that this is the default location of the threads.xls file - you may (probably) have another copy which Inventor reads wherever your Design Data is installed.

If you looking for "GB", it should be here:

If it isn't there, someone has deleted the tab from the working copy of the spread sheet. Take a copy from the default location and paste it into your working copy.

If it is BSP threads you are looking for, I don't believe the standard goes above 6" (G6)

Read this Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_pipe_thread#Uses - it explains the purpose of theses special thread forms. Although the page relates to NPT threads, it also applies to BSP threads because they're used for the same purposes.

On the page you'll note: "Commonly used sizes are1⁄8,1⁄4, ... 4, 5, and 6 inch, as pipe and fittings by most US suppliers. Sizes smaller than 1⁄8 inch are occasionally used for compressed air, while sizes larger than 6 inches are often joined by other methods."

I think the G8 refers to something else - not a BSP thread. If you share the rest of the information about the request, we might get a better idea of what is required.

Another Wiki page lists G threads (BSPP) up to 18".

Regarding this issue, Can I add other threads type?

For example NPT, I added this for screw but I would like see this information in this box.

Yes.

NPT is in the files already.

I added AFBMA locknut thread size.

You can see it beside GB pipe thread on my screenshot.
