Hi! I suspect this could be related to the lighting or the geometry itself. Open the part and press Ctrl+F7 (make sure C:\Temp is available). Is there any bad body reported?

Try a few things.

- Change the drawing background color.

- Copy the sheet and paste it to a new drawing.

- Change the model lighting.

Many thanks!

I have a drawing with some view shading issues. Id does not happen with all views but is arbitrary which views have the issue. The shading looks like a square with a color gradient starting in the center. Please see the image for the example. Sometimes disabling shading in the view and re-enabling it works but sometimes it does not. The drawing is the only document open after a restart. Video drivers are up to date. Inventor 2021.3.2. We cannot upgrade to a newer version yet. This is the only model I am experiencing this with.

I haven't seen this before, but I've not been around much in the 2D drawing environment either, I have to admit. A common problem with colors can be the override feature. It causes major problems in Studio, presentation, and rendering in the viewport as well. As a standard measure, I would go to the part files and create a View Representation with the appearances. Here it is some sort of purple, presumably. Then you create a View Representation folder in the assembly and link the view representations with the menu. While typing this, I realized this might be just a part file, not an assembly. The procedure to always create a new View Rep remains the same. That is to say, if it's a derived part that you've mirrored, for example, all your 'appearance overrides'. must be switched off (box unticked). Hope this makes sense and helps you! Cheers, Marco

Epilogue. For good measure check the setting in the picture, which might not be applicable. See if nothing funny is going on there. Secondly, the actual defect appears as if it's a Ground Plane, which you can find in the Ribbon --> View --> Appearance. I'm just guessing here, honestly.

This part has a bend part feature in it. If I roll the end of part up to before the bend part feature, the problem goes away. Obviously that is not an acceptable fix as the bend part feature is key to this design. Any other suggestions?

Hi! Then I think this is geometry specific. Please share the file with me directly johnson.shiue@autodesk.com. I would like to take a look at the file. There should be a way to make it work.

Many thanks!

Don't think this will help either, but to add to @johnsonshiue 's suggestions:
Try changing the viewcube's defined front/top faces.

(this changes the ground plane / shadow direction for rendering, so maybe it helps in this situation too)

Hi! Thomas did send me the files to review. Without disclosing the data detail, I can share the findings. The part checks clean. Somehow Inventor has trouble properly taking a shading snapshot (bitmap) of the particular part with Bend Part feature. The workaround to bypass the issue is to change the Shaded Drawing View bitmap option to "Offline Only" (Tools -> Doc Settings -> Drawing). Then the shaded views will be displayed correctly.

I will work with the project team to understand the behavior better. However, I don't anticipate a quick fix due to the nature of the specific geometry.

Many thanks!
