Dear all,

I am by no means an expert, but, I am not stupid. However, this problem is starting to become annoying.

Attached is a Car Windscreen. It is bevelled and curved in all directions as you would expect.

I have drawn the wiper arms and blades ready. I have the correct position where they are to be mounted.

AS you can see from the attached file I have constructed an offset work plane for the scuttle box area (Section where the wiper arms mount)

What I cannot do is extrude to the edge of the windscreen and then render in a different colour.

There is no edge to the windscreen to select.

I have tried many options to no avail.

Please can someone advise.

many thanks.

And what you expect!!!!! you have a curved windshield!!! Also the projection is not well made: you didn't chose the rigth edge to project to the sketch plane!!!

A can fix it for you but, do You have access to Inventor 2016?

Check the image.

The yellow lines are the projection of the from the windshield edges in the bottom plane. The Black lines are the profile you are trying to extrude. As you can see they don't match.

If you use the yellow lines, it will extrude propperlly, if you want to use the black lines, you have to do with the loft tool, because you can't achieve that with a strait extrude.

Thank you for your help Carlos.

I have edited the projected curves as advised. I had tried it with a variety of projections, yet, none looked right.

I do not have access to 2016 Inventor.

I am aware the windscreen was not the best, but it is sufficient for the CFD requirements I wish to carry out. I will be using ANSYS FLUENT. I am good with that software, but relatively new to Inventor.

As a last question.

As visible in the attached file is the wiper blade and the windcsren with the scuttle area. (Wiper Blade postion not yet grounded)

To carry out the CFD simulation I need to constrain the wiper blade to the curvature of the screen at the 90' position, 45' and parallel.

The wind is not allowed to go underneath the blade in all angles.

The blade is obvioulsy flat. The screen is curved at a variety of angles.

How can I constrain the edge of the blade without inputting the unknown angles and curves at the required angles ?

I would also like to remove the excess extrude visable onto the screen itself by the gray scuttle. If possible.

All that is possible, but you have to send me the files.

The eindscreen.iam is not enought... ist's only a file which tell us how the parts are mounted, but don't carry the parts itself.

You have to post the iam files plus the ipt parts.
