From your screenshot i believe that they're using an older version of inventor in that video...
It does make me wonder why you can't set it to show the text anymore, maybe i'm missing something as well...

As a workaround you could use the "customize user commands" method, but that will only give you a single panel for all the command you want to display with text.
So it's not really optimal, but it might help you while learning.

Hi

Still finding my way around after the change from solidworks.

On some of the tutorials i have been watching on youtube, like the scooter one, it shows the ribbon bar with detailed names next to each of the constrain features for eg.

i have a 40"screen and would like to have the ribbon bar set like this to aid me in learning inventor, instead of having to hold the cursor over them to find out what they do.

Any help wil be appreciated.

Regards

Will

RMB on the ribbon and try some of the setting options that appear under the Ribbon Appearance pick. I think you want "Normal".

Hi, Thanks.
I have tried this but still no joy.
can you drag each wincow (ie layout or constrain) across to elongate it as in say windows etc?

Well, the command I pointed you to should control the text and size of the icons in the ribbon bar.

I'm not sure what you want to change if not that. Please post a screenshot of what you see and what you want. Have you used the Windows Snipping Tool to make screenshots?

A screenshot would really help..

You might be running into issues with your gigantic "oh my neck hurts" display.. 2016 has yet to be optimized for ultra high resolutions so please report back with your resolution too..

But there is also this button.. (in addition to the ribbon appearance talked about above)

Between those 2 you should be able to customize the ribbon appearance to match whatever you are seeing in a video..

Just press it to cycle through the ribbon panel styles..

Are you talking about the constrain panel when in sketch mode?
Which version of inventor are they using in the video?
Does it say "User commands" under the panel in that video?

My last question is because you can add all the constraints to a custom panel to show the "text" next to them. (done in the "customize" menu)

This should make it easier i think.

if you look ss A this is what i see (no description net to a symbol) and ss B is from the tutorial video and what i would like to see.

RES and screen wise its nothiong to do with that, Its perfect, all works really well.

i have it all set up so all menus are the same size as on a 27" screen, so just plenty drawing space and nice size view.

many thanks
