Hi,

used Jing to screen capture inventor then rhino rotating the same sized cube by 90deg,

I am using the paste url and normally on another forum the Jing video will display full screen size, I am seeing something a few cm big, why ?

I am with trial Inventor and dont have Screencast and it wouldnt capture rhino anyway whilst Jing will.

In this video the cursor start at right edge of cube very near edge of the blue ring and ends up almost off stage at left, in Rhino it starts at cube right edge and ends at cube left edge.

Inventor uses 15mm mouse matt and Rhino less than 1mm. Note the amount the cursor moves on screen for each.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with my PC setup, as it runs a ww2 flight sim with everything set to maximum, and flight sims with many aircraft are far more intensive on video than than the sims most people play. Runs furmark and holomark giving top results. Higher results than most achieved in Rhino.

And it runs Rhino without issue, others also use this. A simple alteration of Inventors registry fixed the zoom, now it matches Rhino and can take me exactly to where I want to be, before it was not far enough then oh **** too far..., Inventor has a slow setting for rotate and a fast one for zoom.

I just need to get at the registry and fix the rotate setting.

Video card is Nvidia GTX 970..its the card of the moment, or was a year ago, absolute milestone in vid cards, broke new barriers in performance.

PC is win 7 64bit pro custom built for CAD 32Gb corsair ram, Intel R Core i7-7479 3.6Ghz , runs Rhino awesome, I have no problems at all in rotation there, or creating 3D,

So, 1mm mat for rhino, 15mm for Inventor, same 90 deg rotation, and I need to fix that speed, somewhere in the registry. BECAUSE I CANNOT ROTATE ANY MORE I AM OUT OF WRIST MOVEMENT AND SCREEN, CURSOR IS AT FAR LEFT, YET IN MY NORMAL 3D WORK I HAVE BAGS OF MOVEMENT LEFT, I CAN DO 360DEGREES !

Steve

Where are settings for zoom and pan severity ?

Just setup Inventor trial pro2016 and the zoom is far too fierce, a 2inch sphere goes from 80mm dia on my monitor (1920x1200) to 300mm (not even fully visible now) in just two clicks of scrollwheel in a non ortho view. Compare this to another prog I use, Rhino3D v5 which takes 6 clicks to do the same on the same sphere starting at the same size on screen, in Rhino I have careful control as I work scrolling in and out all the time whilst placing the next line or spline point. drawing away and zooming and panning all in 1inch movement of mouse. I do have to set it to parallel as opposed to perspective to have infinite zoom ability.

In Photoshop again same finesse, 6 clicks goes from 80mm dia to 140mm dia. Rhino 3 clicks 150mm.

I googled this and only saw mention of alter registry for the mouse, that would then totally mess up the perfectly ok function of this mouse in all progs I use it in, from scrolling up down pages in word, and the internet to the usage of photoshop and rhino. Inventor should use same amount as other progs.

help !!!

then crazily the pan is the opposite, far too slow, like wading through molasses. I run out of mouse mat wrist movement ! Select the pan tool and its hardly moving the item, then change direction and it flips it initially before calming down.

30mm of mouse move left to rotate a 2inch cube (125mm tall on monitor) through 90 degrees in Inventor

Rhino just 2mm !!!!!

and 1mm v 15mm for face opposite face to corner opposite corner 45degs.

I did in fact have for most of the tests, 0.5mm or less, the 1mm is the most I measured.

How does one alter the pan speed ? and I dont intend messing up my use of my mouse in these other progs, which work just the same on a winxp and a win7 pc.

I am also seeing reversed perspective in that the front half is smaller than the back half

Worried !

Cheers.

Steve

Check within the settings for your mouse. Some devices have application driven settings while others have only global settings. The only setting that Inventor has is to control the zoom direction.

make sure you pick the proper registry version for the version of Inventor you are using.. (probably the highest number if you have more than one version installed)

yep.. same for me when I use my mouse to rotate (and **** did that feel goofy without the 3d controller 🙂 )

There is NO way I would need Inventor any faster..Its so fast all I could see was a blur and had no idea what was front/back/up/down on my part

I wonder if his graphics card is an issue here and just can't keep up the refresh rate..

Maybe he should move this discussion back to his other post to avoid hijacking this any further..

Also please indicate your graphics card and current driver version?

and are you and dbenz the same person or same company or something? seems weird to have 2 people with the same "mouse" zoom/rotate problems between INV and Rhino on the same day around here..

Hi,

Very annoying that Jing video that is supposed to work and display full screen video, and does on other website forums, fails here, I aim to rely upon it when posting some issues that no doubt will occur in Inventor hence why forums exist. Why is this prog and website putting up a fight ! ?

Here are start middle end stills from it of both cube rotations, as the Inventor rotate cursor icon is difficult to see in the prog I have white blobbed it !

I start at cube right each time, note amount of travel of mouse to get same rotation, as said 1mm versus 15mm, in fact most times mouse has imperceptibly travelled for Rhino, or for photoshop for that sort of screen travel. The issue is Inventor for such moves is exceedingly slow by comparison.

Also now tested drawing a line, same mouse-mat distance in both progs so all ok there, Inventor same as Pshop and Rhino and others there, thank god for that ! Its just the rotation speed thats 15x slower that I can see at the moment. It also does a more violent reverse direction turn the other way then settles down if I simply reverse direction. Hence my hope for a registry fix or settings in Inventor just as zoom was fixed.

I just dont have enough wrist sweep or mouse mat to do a full rotation in this prog unlike any others I use. I do full screen moves in 44mm or less if move faster.

and here are the settings requested.

Hope that helps find me a fix.

Steve.

PS...and as for a DBenz ?...lets focus on me. ! login keeps forgetting my password and saying my name already exists, so my 001 is now 006 ! peculiar website.

Hi JDMather,

Ok installed this screencast software, reboot.

Run record and it says unable to as I dont have windows aero display. I am not altering though my windows setup back to the aero display as it took me 3 months after Installing win7 64bit pro to get rid of the mess that msoft made of text display on screen as well as sorting out the disaster that was windows explorer, and I ended up , as thousands of others had to, removing aero, running classic shell, then some sanity returned, though text still displays somewhat in different colours depending on the font size on screen, XP never did that, all text was black, no colour fringing, as it should be, even now its not perfect, l is red or green or blue fringing, i is green v is black just looking at examples from this forum text. We had Msoft and the video card manufacturers trying to fix it, thinking it was the video card driver, then found images in google of exactly the issue, and it was found to be Msoft meddling again, they had removed a setting in text display from XP days that delivered black text and had done so since windows 3.1 and there was no fix except remove aero, 10000 hits on the thread trying to sort out the mess. I could have killed Bill Gates at the time ! They had also removed the neutral grey panels graphics users should have set up for correct colour vision in colour critical programs.

I should be able to use Jing as it is by the worlds no1 screen captue people, us Rhino users use it, and it should open a full size 1920x1200 screen capture, so unsure why this forum wrecks that. Unless Autodesk have made such links not work as they have their own capture ?

I will have to contact techsmith and find out !

However you say you are able to see the video ? at what size on screen ? Mgyvr couldnt see it.

Steve

I also use Camtasia Studio (Techsmith) and www.Screencast.com (not to be confused with screencast.autodesk.com ).

Bit of a hijack of this thread - but I am surprised that Techsmith has not sued Autodesk on this one. Even the origami logos are similar.

Also, I simply right click on the desktop to change Personalized Themes. Never had any of the trouble you describe at length.
