first step is learning that an iam file is useless without all the ipt and any other subassembly iam files inside it..

An iam file does not include the parts in it self but only links to them..

I don't have the same version as you so I can't share whatever I have as you wouldn't be able to open it but

Read this..

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/Inventor-Help/files/GUID-BE01AA75-8B7B-4E2D-833C-0385F7A1B165-htm.html

You just need to setup constraints that you drive.. and to get "fancy" with the screw do this..

and here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CapXPJXEegk

Are you a student?

I noticed that many (most?) of your sketches are not fully defined, not even dimensioned.

What version of Inventor is your school using?

It would be easier to help if you installed later release of the software as 2014 is rather ancient.

http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity students, teachers and schools can all get the latest release at this site.

To make your life easier - the first thing I recommend is that you make use of obvious symmetry.

For example, in your handle.ipt change Extrusion1 to Symmetrical (midplane).

You could then Mate-Flush the XZ plane of the Bolt to the XY plane of the Handle to keep the handle centered in the bolt.

You will want to learn about Rotational/Translational constraint (screw motion) and Angle Constraints (Animate Constraint to impart motion).

And if you are a student do NOT install a new version if its different from what you are using at school as the files aren't backward compatible and you would no longer be able to open them up at school of you used a newer version at home..

Yes I am a student. And the school uses 2014 version. I realize my drawings are rather crude as I am learning. I really appreciate all the help that I receive from the forum it has helped me a lot. How is it that I change and mate the handle and the bolt that you were talking about. I really want to learn the best and most effective ways to do these things. I am seriously looking at the possibility of doing this for a career. Thanks again for all the help

Well, in Inventor's early days a steering part mostly was used for tasks like this. But a rotating workplane is possible, too, instead of a separate file.

Switching from rotation to linear movement is done with Min-Max parameters; look at parameters window.

2014 files attached in Zip, animation starts with Driveme angle constraint
