I am trying to create a new content center family. Everything was going smoothly, then this error message kept popping up when I went to place test parts for the family. What can I do to fix this?

This family will be completely separate from the old family. I had added "- REVAMP" to the end of each filename so there shouldn't be any duplicates.

Shouldn't but it did cause a problem.

Double check the table.

Also a new family could/should put files in new folder.

I believe I have seen that same message if you try publishing a part into a category but try to give the family the same name as another. Example, You have a metric category for bolts and you have an Inch category. Both have a family called "Hex Head Cap Screw". If the file names are different, then they each go into the same folder in CC called "Hex Head Cap Screw" but are saved as the file name you generate.

I've had that happen to me as well. These two families do have different names, so there should be zero chance the filenames are the same.

Just out of curiosity, when you were playing around with CC, remember that CC will look local first, if the file exists, it will use it first. It doesn't rebuild from the Family Table every time. So, do you happen to have some local stuff it is looking at where you may not be getting what is in the family table? What if you wipe your local CC and try from blank slate. Do you get different results?

Hi,

Check the family folder names. They may be the same, and that's what is causing the warning.

The family names may be different, but Inventor is trying to save them into the same family folder.

We currently do this and I don't get a warning. I have 2 different families with the same names, but the file names generated are different. They both go to the same folder in CC. I only get a warning when I initially published these indicating there could be an issue. We have 2 different vendors we buy elbows from and they both have segmented elbows, so our cc has folders to represent each vendor, and then sub-cats underneath that for instance "Elbows". Then there are the same family names called "Segmented Elbows".

Keep in mind, as you generate CC families/parts, unseen by the user, Inventor generates system level unique name strings. Think how Inventor does Factory Design Assets, Frame Generator, Tube & Pipe, etc.

If these numbers get duplicated or corrupted, you can expect errors like this I would think.

At least, that's my understanding.
