When you put a value of 1.3 the sketch separates since the end points of the arc and line are not coincident. Im assuming you mirrored the arcs... this is why. If you plan on using this sketch for an extrusion I would draw the arcs manually and set them equal to eachother. That way you can gaurantee the end points remain coincident.

There is really nothing wrong with using mirror in a sketch..

The problem with your part there is due to other conflicting constraints/dimensions.

You have more constraints than you need for some features and not enough for others to keep the sketch from blowing apart when modified in certain conditions.

If sketched properly there is no need for a coincident constraint on the mirrored geometry.

Just because your sketch is flawed doesn't mean that mirror shouldn't be used..

I think you are confusing that with "sketch patterns".. I use mirror all the time to mirror features..

Its been recommended to pattern features and don't pattern in sketches.. I guess because it just makes for more complicated sketches.. Probably some other small reasons too..

Hi s.shivaprem,

See the attached Inventor 2015 part files as well as this link:

http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com/2011/03/inventor-101-simple-fully-constrained.html

You'll see that these parts are created with simple sketches to create the features and parts.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com
