Ref: Inventor 2023, Modelling (particularly Assy), Exporting Dimensions as parameters

Hi all. Again, sorry. Now - finally - we have upgraded into Inventor 2023. Found plenty of new useful features. Like Annotate/Dimension within the Assembly/Model space. But: now I wonder how to utilize the given value?

How to link & use the DIM_VALUE (in blue ring) value, particularly as a part of iProperties data row?

Producing e.g. a dynamic attribute value like "Discharge pipe L= "&DIM_VALUE&" incl. Flange".

Of course, the value is updated accordingly when (not IF) inevitable changes take place.

Can't find that value anywhere, particularly not in Parameters-table. Nor other places.

Only appearing as a name under the Feature tree/Annotations, but no value can be found or picked from there. Edit-tool (directly the dimension or tree item) makes no choice.

Is it really so, that I still must make a particular sketch (in Assembly) just in order to have a place where to gather ASSEMBLED dimensions? In a Part that's not a big deal, most of those key values are already there. But not in assemblies.

Why asking? Because in SW this is easy: place the dimension(s), go to prop row, type text & PICK THE DIMENSION & type text etc. And vóila, you have a dynamic prop text, reflecting the current dimension value. In changed status too. Can't believe Inventor doesn't support the same; just cannot find how. Me moron...

Hi! You may promote a sketch dimension to a 3D dimension but not the other way around. The 3D dimensions are for viewing purposes.

OK. Thank you JSH again! I'm gonna to continue the auxiliary sketch practice as before. Not a very big deal, since the number of cases dynamic assembly attributes would be needed is quite limited, indeed.
