What is the different between updating a model by means of Show dimension & Edit sketch?

Edit sketch allows you to edit dimensions, geometry and constraints in your sketch.

Show dimensions will allow you to only edit the sketch dimesions.

Yes I try it in both ways. Edit sketch produced the sketch mode only other features of the model was not visible.

With Show dimension command I saw the entire model was visible. For me it was a more convenient way to alter the sketch.

My knowledge is limited to assess the pros and cons.
