they both do a lot of tubing and pipe ...and can probably help here ...

I'm sure others can too...but if now one jumps in, they will see I tagged them in it

Hello again

I've got a Tube and Pipe run and am trying to label the valves in a drawing.

I've tried adding balloons, but whenever I edit the text in one balloon the other one changes to match it.

I've assumed this is because I'm actually labelling the tube and pipe assembly as a whole, rather than each component.

I also want to create a parts list which references the balloons (or vice versa).

I'm not expecting anyone on a forum to talk me through the whole process, but can anyone recommend a youtube video or tutorial that tells me how to create a parts list for an assembly that contains normal parts, but also T&P runs?

The person looking at the drawings won't care about the Inventor assembly structure - I just want to be able to label and list the individual components (pipe fittings) and sub-assemblies (pipe supports). From an previous thread I started I know there's no way to tag the valves in the model and use that to automatically create the balloons, so I realise I'll have to do it manually, but I don't really know where to start....

Many thanks

Can you describe your workflow? Are you using standard BOM balloons, or is this a User Defined Symbol? If you use a UDS you can enter whatever text you want.

Thanks a lot, appreciate that.

However, having thought a bit more since my post, I realise it's a bit confusing and in fact I'm not entirely sure what I'm hoping to achieve.

I'm going to post again more clearly so don't bother replying to the original post.

Many thanks
