Why do problems go unfixed

I've used Inventor since 2009 and there are problems and bugs that still persist 7 years later. Why doesn't Autodesk take a year off of adding new (dubiously useful) features and focus on bug fixes and performance upgrades?

Might be helpful to know what bugs or issues you're having ... especially one thats has been around since 2009

Have you searched the Inventor IdeaStation to see if there is an idea that supports the issues you are having? You might be able to add comments there and kudo the idea as well in support.

Good question Mr. Kaspar. Am I saying that correctly? Well the reason for this is because Autodesk is pretty dope at the "New and Shinny" effect. That is whenever they drop a new version, they hype it up SO much without actually fixing anything.

a) Tube and Pipe loses adaptivity and doesn't snap into place. This means redoing all T&P runs.

b) Performance opening up and working with IDW files- Inventor has consistently been extremely sluggish and freezes often. This on a machine with 32 GB of RAM, i7-3930K CPU, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 graphics card, etc.

c) Random crashing and extremely poor handling of larger assemblies and models.

d) Measure tool precision can't be retained for a session- it resets itself with every new file opened.

Here's just a couple off the top of my head.

d) not sure what you mean .. I'm assuming if you'd like to stay 4 place vs 3 place ... maybe add that to the idea forum.

You could join the Beta group ..and have direct input in .... they take all of our feedback ..

PS a lot of the new features in 2017 we from the idea's forum that people asked for

mdavis is correct. Much of the focus of what was in 2017 as well as what's in development right now has been primarily driven by customer Ideas. Performance is also a definite initiative for us for the foreseeable future.
