autodesk inventor 2016 export objects command

I googled this command, searched Youtube abnd found no examples of how to use it.

I am still trying to split one part with a surface from another part. I can copy that surface to my new part but I would like to see if other methods to do this are possible.

How does this window work and where does it export objects to?

The split tool is useful for taking one solid body and splitting it into two, say two halves of an injection mold, or two trim a solid like in the case of a compound miter cut or one could use the split tool with a sketch to create two faces on what used to be one surface (which can be useful for many operations including finite element analysis placement of pressure loads).

The Export window allows you to select which items can be passed from one Inventor part to another. For example, you could specify which components come with part when using the derive command or which parameters are available when trying to link the parameters. Anyway, the gist of the export command is to determine which portions of a file can be shared with other Inventor files.

I read this help file a while ago. Help files are not very helpful usually. I clicked this green arrow. I don't know what happens - I still cannot select my offset surface out of another part while performing a "split" command.
