Prevent objects in assembly to cast shadow / reflection

Hi, is it possible to render an assembly in inventor / studio, and prevent some objects to cast shadows and reflection in the others?

The idea is to sketch a setup with mirrors, lenses and a laserbeam, where the beam (manually modeled) is visible, but does not cast a shadow, or the reflections are visible in the other objects of the assembly...

Maybe some other software is useful here?

As I know this is not possible within inventor studio.

And in my opinion Inventor studio will only be used for quick rendering or animations.

A better option is to make use of a real render program.

Personally I think that looks pretty good for not being a real rendering program. Nothing special was done here to have it look like this ...

I think a lot of people who post some great renderings from Inventor Studio would disagree with ...

in principle, the rendering capability of inventor studio is satisfactory for my needs, so that is not the issue.

the detail I want to resolve is the reflection of one individual object in all other ones. see the example picture attached, the 'beam' propagates through the lens (top left) and is then (manually) reflected from the mirror. the polished surface however also shows a reflection itself, as if the beam was a solid object. being not so physically correct to see the beam at all in the first place, it is much more disturbing to also see the mirror images.

maybe I did not find the part about that issue in your link?

Do you really need Studio Render

would Realistic Visual Style without shadows or reflections serve your needs?

@JDMather: in principle yes, the thing is, the reflections button you highlighted is only for the ground plate, not within the objects.

I'm still getting it on the polished surface. Might need to change that face property ... but I'm trying different options

Here's another ideea:

Rendered as two separate images in Studio, and post-processed in GIMP.

What’s interesting, a mirror doesn’t show its own shadow… is that a good or a bad thing for a Vampire? ;-))
