How to fix unresolved components

I brought home my current project on a flashdrive and now when I open it, it says there are unresolved components (pretty much all the parts). It is in an assembly file so all I have are two out of the eight parts so I can't do much with it. Someone please help! My project is due Monday and I still have much to do!! Picture of what it looks like is below.

get the rest of the parts ....or remodel it

If you can get back to the PC that has it all ..and do a pack and go ....

or did you save them wrong from the flash drive?

Can you access the pc or network it wall saved on?

The way I saved it was I connected the flash drive to the computer and then just dragged and dropped the folder containing all the parts and the assembly into the flashdrive. I'm not sure if that was the right way but I've done that before and it worked. I can still access the computer that has all the files. What is a pack and go?

Use the Pack & Go function that ADSK installs in the Windows File Explorer. Navigate to the folder where your model resides and select the parent IAM file, RMB on it and select the Pack and Go. This will search the model and collect all used and required files for you, collect them and save them into a folder for you to use.

You won't end up with missing files as you currently have.

Welcome to the forum.

It could very well be that the files are in your folder but Inventor doesn't see them and you need to pick each and every one.

Post a screenshot of the ipj settings, just need to check if the CC (Content Center) and Libraries are available and pointing in the project folder rather than a generic location which you didn't copy over.

If you are certain that the folder contains all the files including content center and library then here's what you can do.

Edit or create a new ipj (project file) and in the settings expand Options and change "Using Unique Filenames" to YES.

This is not recommended in normal working environment because inventor open files will take longer but in your case it will force it to search for the files in all known locations rather than asking you to point to the new location.

It might be that you still have missing Content Center files and as long as you have the libraries with you (or haven't used any custom libraries in first pace) then you can sort that out as well.

When it asks for the missing CC files, copy the filename it needs, open a new inventor session and use place from CC (or open from CC) then search for that filename and place/open the file. Once the item has been created on disk you can point your project to it.

Ok so it sucks that you got a bunch of useless answers on how to fix your current problem...funny how that happens on the internet...hindsight is always 20/20 so of course Pack and Go would be great next time...but hopefully you weren't too surprised there if you're 10 percent computer savvy, how could a file be there if it's not?

IF you had all your files on the machine, then there is a way to fix this.

What you want to do is right-click the Assembly Icon in the Parts Tree, not the Unresolved Component itself. If you right-click the Assembly Icon in the Parts Tree, then you can select Resolve ~~Components~~ File.

It brings up the explorer and then you can go about selecting the files that you need. The wonderful part is, it gives a warning if you screw up!

This is great tool to use when you change your file names in Windows Explorer instead of executing a Save As command.

I think this dialog window should just be brought up NO MATTER WHAT (cough-cough Autodesk) but Autodesk is like an academic vs field engineer, they don't really use their products the way the real world does, so they don't catch A LOT of silly stuff.
