Hello all . . .

Not sure how to describe what I'm looking to do, but after more than an hour of searching I'm still scratching my head.

I'd like to take an imported object in a sketch (brought in a .dxf logo outline), and located it precisely in the sketch using constraints to then emboss (negative/engrave) into the surface of a part . . . e.g. for a logo. The imported sketch was done out of house and comes in with no constraints to itself. I need to be able to 'lock' the sketch body, then use constraints (instead of the 'move' command) to center with projected lines of the outside perimeter of the base part.

Does that make any sense? I've tried using the lock command in constraints, but that locks up all elements completely in the sketch and stops me from moving the graphic. Is there a way to 'group' or something? Thanks for any input you might have.

Sounds like the perfect application for a Sketch Block [Inventor 2024 Help | Sketch blocks | Autodesk].

A sketch block removes all degrees of freedom amongst the sketch elements that make it up, so it behaves as a single entity.
