Welcome to a 3D world.

Imagine you are on the Space Station.

What is up? What is down?

You need a universal convention.

On XY plane y is vertical (no matter how you rotate that plane).

On XZ plane z is vertical (no matter how you rotate that plane).

On YZ plane z is vertical (no matter how you rotate that plane).

When in a sketch - if you have Axis turned on

Thick axis is Horizontal

thin axis is Vertical (no matter how you rotate the sketch) (don't read this from earth-bound perspective, this is universal convention)

Somehow the graphical command for vertical constraint now means horizontal. The converse holds true. Is this because vertical is in the Z direction? You see, the positive Z direction is to the left on the horizontal axis.

If more info is needed please let me know.

Best!
Nathanael

Its ALWAYS been like this when your view is rotated a certain way or you start out on different planes or whatever..

Thats partly why there is a "yellow" (in my color scheme) line that shows..

Its all based off your initial sketch/direction I believe..

It makes sense once you figure out the logic behind it.. But many have wished that it was always relative to the monitor (whats up and down vs left and right) but in reality that wouldn't be really correct..

Hi!

You're speeking about the sketch, right?

You can check in the cube, if you can read the words (like front, back, etc) in the horizontal way. If they are in vertical, so, the horizontal of the system is now for you "as a vertical".

But... when the model start to be more complicated, this rule vanish, so, you have to look at the "help line" of the command.
