Inventor 2016 SP2 slow render

I have a customer with an Inventor subscription running latest version 2016 SP2.

PC is Win10 x64, i7-4790K, 16GB RAM, Intel PCIe NVRAM SSD, Geforce 960GTX 2GB. Should be very fast, no?

NVidia driver is up-to-date.

When he creates a sketch it is extremely slow. Like a few minutes slow..., and Inventor stops responding. Sometimes it crashes.

One CPU core goes to max usage. GPU load is average.

If he deletes the render it also takes a few minutes.

Shouldn't it also be multi-core aware?

He also has Autocad & Showcase on the pc but it also happens when only Inventor is open.

I attached some screenshots.

Can someone give any advice?

When you say "render" do you mean, as in generating a pretty image? Or updating what's on screen? Or...?

Not all parts of the program are multi-thread capable (for a number of reasons, discussed elsewhere). Rendering, as in creating a pretty image, like most Autodesk engineering products is CPU based and multi-threaded so it will take advantage of many cores but not the video card.

I don't know inventor myself but he tries to create a 2D sketch by clicking that first button in tab Sheet metal and it takes forever for random/complex patterns.

For example the pattern you see in the screenshot.

Possibly too many points on Polylines…

Looks like those curves may have been imported as a sketch from AutoCAD.

If so, the speed can be improved by re-creating the polylines with a reduced number of points and re-import it in Inventor.
