Is it 1 part per sheet?

Or multiple parts on the same sheet?

If its 1 part per sheet I'm sure an ilogic rule could be written to export each sheet and grab the part number from the base view to use as the filename for the export..

Whats the dxf for?

dxf of the flat pattern to import into CAM software? or just for a more "neutral" drawing format..

personally I always do 1 drawing for each part or assembly and don't like combining multiple parts into a single drawing.. Solely because if that single drawing gets corrupt you have to redo everything..

Found this post too which seems to be where you are headed.. (sort of)

Hi mathew.whittaker,

There is also an example at this link, but it runs from the top level assembly:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-customization/save-all-associated-files-to-dxf/m-p/6056485/highlight/true#M61931

I have a rule that processes a drawing and outputs DXFs for each file, but it is specific in it's set up concerning the destination folder. Do you know where you'd want the DXF's to land? Can you provide an example of your folder structure?

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com

its multiple parts per sheet, I was thinking in the rule the view name in the browser could be called up to distinguish between the parts

Yes DXFS for use in laser cutter etc.

Hello Mathew,

I have a similar situation as yours using inventor 2017 version. Did you get any luck with it?

I also want to export only the part views without dimensions, borders, notes and labels. I was wondering if there is a way to do that using task scheduler or something without opening each drawing and deleting them.

Hi Soni

I downloaded the dxf exporter program from the autodesk store
https://apps.autodesk.com/INVNTOR/en/Detail/Index?id=7498862835390395853&appLang=en&os=Win32_64

it works well, we have yearly subscriptions and use it most days

thanks

Thanks Mathew.

Do the parts have to be sheet metal parts only. or can they be simple plates. we tried on of the parts and it gave an error that its not a sheet metal part.

Hello Mathew,

I used the trial version. it works beautifully. the only issue i have seen so far is that the bend note for sheet metal parts does not appear on the dxf file.

I wonder if you had the same issue and know a work around it.
