Hello all,

Please see attached; I'm trying to offset the profile outside and cannot do it, it always reverts to the original position.

If you display all the constrains you notice that constrains are duplicated every time you try to offset.

Is there a way to clear the constrains? (besides manually deleting them)

I'm using Inv 2016.

Thank you

radu

How many times have you already done this?

I count 5 copies over the original.

First thing I would have done is Undo to get back to original - then try to solve the issue.

Hi RStancescu,

I didn't look at your file, so I apologize if I cause confusion, but I suspect you want to start the Offset tool, then right click and turn off Loop Select.

Sometimes using the Offset tool before creating rounded fillet edges can allow you to offset with Loop Select on, when it is the rounded corners in the sketch that is preventing the offset. In these cases using the End of Part marker to create the sketch before fillets helps.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com

Hi Curtis,

You have a valid point and good suggestion. Just for fun, open the file and try offset it...

Actually, I tested more and realized that at every failed offset operation Inventor duplicated the geometries and constraints. So if I delete all the duplicate lines and arcs it will work. Why did it do it in the first place? (like the first duplicate?

I've seen it in the past when "round" entities stay in your way and totally agree with you that fillets should/must be placed at the end of design.

Have a great and safe long weekend!
