Balloon miss match

I have a idw. that has been created a long time ago, when trying to put balloons on some of the items, it get a number that is n´t related to this item. Meaning that putting balloon on item Q it gets number from item A.

What is causing this?

Can you share screenshots of your BOM, your parts list, and your drawing with the balloons ?

Probably some items have been changed in parts list.

Sometimes happends when the edges of two parts are close together or bordering each other, also sometimes there can be an override on a baloon depends on how big your assembly is, it would be easiest if you "PackandGO" the entire assembly with the drawing, "RAR" it and upload so people can check.

You can also try deleting the ballon and try to put it on different edge of the component, or delete all balloons and partlist, and try to do it all anew. Also check the Iproperties of the parts, if you forexample copied the parts, the copies might accidentaly retain the original names etc.

Hi ThomasB44 and M15A
Yes some of the items has been change in the Partlist.(Renumbering and text added)
The items where added at the same time as the others.
But the objects that needs balloons, has never had a balloon before.
I have checked the Bom in the assy, but the items do not have any of the numbers that it comes up with when placing a balloon.. ( looks like there is no link between the BOM and the partlist, partlist not been saved to the BOM)

Inventor and files IAM and IDW updated ?

Your parts list is linked to right assembly ?

Are you trying to add a balloon on a view that is not refering to your parts list ?

I can not attach files, Confidential stuff.

The assy is attached to the right view. 1 Assy. 1 view.

The option to delete and start over again is not an option. I can always give the balloon the next number in the row.
But the point is that, it should not give the balloon an existing number, since there is only 1 of this item.......

I would advise you to check two things. First, if something has been overwritten in the BOM/part list. Second, I would check that the views actually correspond to the correct (same as BOM/part list) assembly/part.

Herby some fotos from the idw. BOM in iam, is not the same as the one in idw. has not been save to BOM in iam.

All those in blue are static values (overwritten). Try removing the overwrites (think it is right click on the value and click static value or something like that) or just try selecting and deleting.

Get back to me how it worked.

As long as they are blue (static) they will overwrite whatever the value actually is with the text in the box.

Otherwise right click the BOM and check the "styles and ..." to see where the BOM actually gets its values from. Then check that those actually correspond to the ones in your parts/assys.

Can´t seem to find the "Styles and...." Any where...

Styles and standards or Styles editor. Wrote styles and ... because i couldn't remember the exact name, sorry if I was unclear.

I don,t have any experience with Factory design, maybe you could try the factory design forum.

Have you tried renumbering the parts list on the drawing? That should clear up the duplicated item numbers...

Yes that will clear it up, but not explain why this happends.
This order can´t be renumbered. So for now the number that is off, will be change manualy.
But I will try to finde a reason why this happends.

I have seen this type of item number issue happen when I had several parts lists of the same assembly, but with different filters, in the same drawing.

The best way that I found to fix it was to have a complete parts list outside the printable area on one of the idw sheets and force a re-number and update to the assembly BOM editor there.
