3D printing / scale to size

Hi Guys,

Just stumbled into the wonderful world of 3D printing. I have a part file I would like to print, but I need to scale it down to size to fit on the printer. I know back in the day there was no simple way of scaling a part file down without totally redrawing it to the new size.

Is there any way I can make a 1/4 scale model of my assembly and so I can simplify it and send it to the printer?

Derive model, set scale.

If you are using the 3D print environment in Inventor, there is a tool to scale the model for output to a 3D printer.

Technically the scale tool/function is in Autodesk Print Studio which is its own program (called an app now I guess) accessible through the 3d print environment of Inventor or directly from the Start button (now called the Windows button) in Windows just like you access any other program (app)..

Print Studio is intended to be a replacement (or alternative) for the Slicing/G code generating program that comes with your 3d printer..

Hi Jacob,
Thank you - exactly what I was looking for. Worked great, but I need to de feature the model some. I had to reduce it to 2% of full size, is there any way to quickly de feature as well?

Thanks, I am sure this will work as well, but as I am not directly hooked up to the printer, I am not printing directly from Inventor. Much thanks however!

If you're deriving .. you should have the original still

Go to the model and turn them off, suppress the feature you don't need... and redo the derive 2% less
