Inventor prints my drawing with another color than I have on my IDW

Hello Guys,

For invisible lines, I have set the layout on pink color.

So on my drawing (idw) visible lines are black and invisible lines are pink.

If I print it, Inventor makes some of the visible lines also pink. There is no logic.

rightside pink and left side black or that reversed.

And ther is no different between the print to a paper or print as pdf.

software/OS versions and update levels may help as well as providing an example set of files that are exhibiting this behavior otherwise we're guessing what could be the problem/s.

Until the omniscient Mr Shiue finds the real answer, try setting the "Visible" layer to have a slightly thicker line weight than the "Hidden" layer.

It looks as though the "Hidden" layer is printed last - therefore overwriting the "Visible" layer, which (in some PDF printer drivers) is configurable. (Probably not a problem when printed on paper because the inks will merge, but very noticeable in a PDF). To test, in the printed copy, can you see the visible edges correctly displayed if you hide the "Hidden" layer?

Make the line weight thicker on your "Visible" layer.

Tnanks for the advise. I have tried that but it didn't help. Mr Shiue has also the same conslusion. So we couldnt finde the solution yet.

Hi Mehrdad,

I set the Visible Edges layer line weight to 0.5mm, while the Hidden Edges layer line weight to 0.001mm. It seems to look Ok. Another option is to turn on “Remove Lineweight” option or export via Inventor PDF Export workflow.

Mr Shiue,

I think you use Export to generate a pdf. Yes that one works. But if you click on the printing icon, you can see that we have the same issue.
