Hi, All please can someone help!!

I keep getting an invalid axis origin error on Sketch16.. but Sketch 16 does not exist in the part! Therefore i can not find a way to resolve the issue.

If i move the 'end of folded' thing up to just above a rectangle pattern 3 the error goes, but then if i delete the pattern it appears again!

I have attached the part in question!

Thank you for any help given!

Simon

Hi sijcooke,

I think this part is corrupt. I deleted all of your features, so that there was a empty feature tree, then saved, closed and reopened the file, and it prompted me to resolve these file links:

END_END.ipt

END_BACKTOP.ipt

MAIN_ASSEMBLY_NOEDIT_VARS.ipt

With no features I could not see how it could be looking for those files?

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

I have had another look at this, and i think i can shed some light on the problem! I have another part very similar to this, and this file is linked to END_END, END_BACKTOP and MAIN_ASSEMBLY_NOEDIT_VARS.

When i created the part MID_TOP, to save re-drawing it, i opened windows explorer, copied the part file and renamed it MID_TOP. I then made some slight changes to it as it is slightly different to the original i copied.

Thinking about it now, maybe copying the file in windows explorer is the wrong thing to do.. and i should probably use inventors copy tool, on the assemble tab\Pattern.

Id be interested if you think this is the best way to copy a part?

Thanks, Simon

Hi. I know this is a reasonably old post. But i have a scimilar problem with 2 files.

Background:

I did a copy design. Made a 2nd instance of a part and did a save& replace on it. The part still had some bolted connection holes on it from the original part. I deleted those holes and was left with several green center marks that don't show up in the browser. I did an edit sketch on them, deleted the marks ended the sketch. Somewhere along the way i am now stuck with a glaring red cross telling me sketch24 has an invalid axis/origin. However sketch24 is nowhere to be found. and the solution process pops up an error that the part needs to be rebuild for editing. That seems to do something but not realy. The red cross remains and it wants to rebuild... over and over again.

How to get rid of this sketch?

The part seems to be corrupted.

I have this macro where I can manipulate all sketches found in a part, and it finds 6-7 sketches that aren't shown in the browser. Only sketch 24 seems to report an error, while sketch22 to sketch31 seems ok. I can manipulate visibility for those sketches and I see that the sketch29-31 is owned by the 'locked' hole features. I am not familiar with these locked features, but I would suspect they are made by a bolted connection created in the assembly?

If that is the case, could it be that you had other bolted connections that later have been deleted? And that deletion maybe corrupted the part by leaving traces of those sketches?

Torbjørn

Inventor 2021

Hi,

Yes, the 3 locked holes are from the assembly Bolted connections.

And the faulty missing sketch probably came from a deleted BC hole.

Can your macro also remove these offending sketches?

If so, would you be so kind as to share it with us?

Thanks,

Niels

The sketch cannot be deleted by this macro, I am afraid that your part is corrupted. If that is the case the only way to get out of this is to re-model the part.

I am afraid I am not allowed to share this macro, as the sketch function is just a small subset of a larger macro for master modelling.

Torbjørn
