How do you paste an object?

I've seen many videos showing how to copy objects. However non of these videos show how to paste the object. I'm not referring to copy/paste for an extruded feature. I know how to do that. However it seems to be much more complicated to copy/paste an object.

And how do you move/rotate etc... that object once it's been copied/pasted?

Can you define "object"?

Is this in a sketch, so a line, a circle, etc.

Is this in a part, so "object" mean an extrude feature, a hole, etc?

Is this in an assembly?, so "object" means a part, or a sub assembly?
