Content Center Family Table, issue with parameters changing automaticaly.

Hello all,

Through the Material Guide in Inventor Content center, I create new family members in a family with a different material than the existing family members. When I do this, a problem arises. In the Family Table, certain parts are not filled in and also data is filled in incorrectly. For example, data that in this case should be in column A is placed in column a. See the figure attached.

Now I can imagine that this has to do with the fact that it is the same letter, but in the existing part of the family this does not cause any problems. If this could still be a cause of the problem, I would like to know how to fix it.

When I change the data in the table by hand (both in Excel and in the Family Table itself) I can save it and click on Apply and Ok in the Family Table, this seems to work fine. Until I open the Family Table again. Then I'm back at the beginning.

Currently I am working in Inventor Professional 2021.3.

Does anyone have experience with the above and can they help me out?

Hello and welcome. Is the Family that you are adding the new material to a Custom Family that you either published or copied... or is this one of the Standard Families?

Hello @CGBenner ,

The Content Center Family in question is a Custom Family.

Given the way the part is set up, I do think it was once copied whether or not set up using a Standard Family. However, this is the case with many of our Custom Content Center parts and has never been a problem.

we are sorry that you have an issue with CC libraries and custom parts. Right now I'm not aware about any solution for you until we look at it to your data.

Do you think that you could send to me / share with me your CC library with affetced custom parts , please ?

Hi Koen,

thank you for sharing your custom CC library. In past we allowed to create in CC family tables columns with duplicate names like "a", "A" or "aa", "AA", "aA" ... later on we discivered that it could be a problem for some workflows and we blocked this "feature" at least from Inventor 2021 where isn't possible to create dupliate columns in family table anymore.

Unfortunately in your custom library are family tables like on the screenshot above where are columns with duplicate names "a" , "A" and/or "b", "B". The only one workaround how to resolve it, is to create new column(s) with unique names and reuse them in existing columns.

Thank you @Roman_Vesely for thinking with me, unfortunately it 's not that simple.

When I changed the "A" collumn to "Atemp and "B" to "Btemp" the following happens:

It created a whole new collumn with the same name and still shifts vallues.

Could you check if you have the same result when you change the collumn names?

If so, what else can I try?

Hi Koen,

I have the same result as you have if the column name is changed by "Edit via Spreadsheet" .. in excel.

But anyway, user can't change the "Column Name" but only "Column Caption" whic is only description which can't help in this case.

Unfortunately, right now I'm aware only about this workaround:

- you have to Publish Part again for affected family to create a new one family

- in this new Published family you have to create all new columns again but right now with unique names and do a mapping to your template parameters.

- do copy / paste of family data from original family
