Is there a way to apply effective tooth clearance to an involute spline? I am just getting my feet wet in this whole design accelerator.

Are you using ANSI B92.1 for your spline design? If so all of the selections used in design accelerator will be used to define the effective tooth thickness. Usually you define your diameter, number of teeth, spline fit and angle and your tolerance class and that would drive what the effective tooth thickness is. Below is a picture of a spline I started and the highlighted number on the right is the effective tooth thickness that is created after I have made all of my selections.

I am using Fillet Root Side Fit, Class 5, ANSI B92.1 with 32 teeth, 24/48 Diametral Pitch, and am working with a Major Dia. of 1.375, however based on an effective clearance of .0057" (as calculated from formulas given to us from the mating component for this spline for eccentricity) I amtrying to get Inventor to produce numbers that would slightly different for the geometry of the spline such as: Major Dia. = 1.369, Minor Dia. = 1.276, Max. Eff. = .0681, and Min. Act. = .0653. All of these numbers were calculated manually.

Unfortunately the Involute Spline Design Accelerator is just able to produce splines that you can find in the tables of ANSI B92.1 so if you are trying to create a spline based on the equations of ANSI B92.1 you won't be able to use this tool.

Do you suppose if I used an existing groove rather than a new spline I would get a different result?
