Hi! I think I know where the problem is. For the Excel driven assembly, you have link the exact same Excel file to each parts. As a result, those parameters are linked to the Excel spreadsheet. When you make a change in the Excel spreadsheet, the iLogic rule tries to push the change to the individual parts. However, the same name parameters already exist. They are read-only and they cannot be changed.

You can easily fix it. You just need to open each part and go to Parameters table -> delete the Excel linked folder. The parameters will become regular user parameters. Then they can be changed by iLogic rules. Could you try it and let me know if it works for you?

Many thanks!

Hi,

I've linked the variables of my parametric model to an excel sheet.

However when I'm updating the values in the excel sheet, I'm getting the error message "Not Implemented (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004001(E_NOTIMPL)).

See picture below (same in attachment):

I've used iLogic to build this assembly which is a shell strake consisting of 2 identical parts ('standard length' rolled plates) and 1 different part (the 'custom length' rolled plate to complete the circumference).

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

(Please note that i'm new to iLogic. I have a feeling that the solution to this is simple!)

Thanks

Thierry

Inventor 2016

Post the iam file, all ipt files, the ilogic rule and your excel document..

At the very least one would need the complete ilogic code to see what you are trying to do..

Hello Mcgyvr,

I've encountered some trouble while trying to simply my model for easier understanding. For that reason i've attached 2 models:

'_Shell Strake 02.rar'

I created a model where all my parameters (part and assembly) are created within Inventor so that you have a clue of what i want to achieve (but with my parameters in an excel file).

'_Shell Strake Model 03.rar'

This is the method I'm encountering issues.

While trying to simplify my model the issues got a bit worse; there is now overlapping of one of the parts which did not happen before.

The original problem was only the error message 0x80004001 which appeared when i tried to update my assembly file.

A short explanation of my modelling procedure:

I'm trying to build a shell strake assembly which consists of multiple rolled plates using only one part file (rolled plate part file). I've used iLogic to achieve the assembly and an excel sheet to control the parameters.

Normally the main assembly would be complex; hence the preference for the parameters in an excel sheet.

Hope this helps.
