I have created a door assembly file for a ceiling mounted fire door. I have set it to function, and created the video file, and now I need that file to function in Revit. I followed the steps to export the revit family file from the workflow on the Autodesk website, but I'm unable to properly open the file. I'm using Inventor 2016, Revit 2013, and I need the family to be able to move/function in the Revit environment. Any ideas, tips, or walkthroughs?

Hey John,

The problem you are having is most likely because of the version difference. Basically the file made in Inventor 2016 cannot be recognized in Revit 2013.

Regards,

I fear I'm missing a step in the process, either in the project assembly itself, or the preparation to export the file.

@Anonymous

As far as I know you are not going to get the same results in Revit as in Inventor. Meaning if the door is swinging in Invetnor, I don't think in Revit you will see that. Items (like constraints and etc) associated to Inventor are not created in Revit. Its just a model unless you define connection points and etc when you're performing the BIM conversion process.

When you convert Inventor's assemblys to Revit, the Revit will load that as a part (familiy), not as an assembly.

So, it move all together, it doenst have the same behavior you can get in inventor.

Thanks, folks. I appreciate the help. I was afraid of that, but I had to hope. I guess it's staying in Inventor for the demonstration, and I'll just have the stationary model in the Revit file.
