Hi, as i already have stated, the problem is not with finding or editing the piping runs.iam file. I have trouble changing the BOM structure of the files created WITHIN the piping runs. I would like to edit the default bom structure of the runs and routes i create. I would also like to add custom iproperties to these "templates".

See arrow in red where i would like to edit the bom and add iproperties. The piping runs.iam only changes the master runs assembly (active in the picture)

Hi.

I have created a flexible hose style in the type and pipe styles and checked the "use subassembly" box.

If i create a route with this hose style it has the bom structure of the route set to Phantom.

Is there a way to change this to normal or inseparable? Where can i find this template file? Is is depending on the piping runs.iam?

/J

Yes it is. It is located in your Design Data sub-folder > Tube & Pipe\en-US

Open it. Go to Tools > Document Settings > Bill of Materials tab

Change the Default BOM structure.

Thanks for your reply. I know about the piping runs template but when i open to edit it, it contains no routes or run. Will changing the bom structure of the top assembly also change the bom structure of its children? (i know this is not the case for regular assemblies)

/J

I've tried changing the BOM structure of the piping runs.iam and it renders no change in the bom of the runs or routes that are created within the master runs assembly. Am i doing it wrong or maybe this just isn't supported.

I would also like to add a custom iproperty to all the runs that are created within the master piping runs. Is this possible? (think, i would like to find the template for the runs (not the master tubenpipe assembly)

//Jesper

This is the default location for the "piping runs.iam" file: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\Design Data\Tube & Pipe\en-US

This is the "Template" file that gets used for the tube & pipe runs. You need to open this file and make the changes to it and then save it. The next tube and pipe run you create will pick up the changes.

The T & P is still a throw back to the way Inventor ran for templates and styles before the "Style Manager" was added.

You will need open the Template IAM file as I posted and make all the changes in this file. The BOM and addition of the custom iProperties. As in the picture you can see that I have two files. The one with the 2017 is the default IAM file that is shipped with Inventor that I've copied and renamed. All my changes for BOM and iProperties have been done to the file with the default name.

Hi Blair and thanks for your reply. The suggestion you posted is exactly how I do it (my file bakup is named BAK instead of 2017). But it feels like my question gets misinterpreted.

I do NOT want i add a custom property to the piping runs assembly. I want to add a custom property to the subassembly run and routes created within the piping runs.iam. Could you please test and verify the below steps to see if we get different results.

1. Open piping runs.iam

2. Add custom iProperty named "TEST" and change bom Structure to Normal.

3. Save your changes.

4. Create a new standard assembly and save it.

5. Create a new Tube and Pipe assembly from the environments tab. Keep the default names.

6. Exit the tube and pipe run and the tube and pipe environment.

7. open iproperties for the Run01 assembly (NOT the Tube & Pipe Runs assembly)

8. Do you find the TEST custom iproperty inside the Run01 assembly? (Yes, the TEST property gets added to the Tube and Pipe runs but not the Run01)

If your property has been added to the Run01 then something is wrong with my setup or brain.

If not, how do i add a custom iproperty (and change defauld bom structure) to the Runs i create?

Thanks /J

Run01 wil use your default assembly template (Assembly.iam).

What setting are you using? Open your Assembly.iam template?

Oh, Thanks! It never occurred to me to check the default assembly template since my default template is empty of any custom properties. I just have one follow up questions that might be more suited for the vault forum, but here goes.

When i check in my runs and routes to Vault.
