I was curious, so I started this study, but then bailed out. I did pass the link along to others though. ScreenCast for user studies is a great idea.

Sorry I am unable to complete the study due to security policies in place at work.

We are unable to install screencast on our machines here.

Hi Curtis, perhaps I'm not experienced enough with Screencast. I'll prefer MP4 files done with Camtasia or another software.

Why?

- Processing and uploading with Screencast takes longer

- After that I'm invited to see the results on Screencast page. Why don't they show it to me straightforward?

Hi wh,

My previous reply was really just my attempt to point out that there is a separate Screencast Forum where you can provide feedback directly to the Screencast team.

For what it's worth I agree with you, and at this point still prefer Camtasia , and find the processing times for Screencast to be slow also. But Screencast has some nice features such as some of the keyboard capture stuff. So, fingers are crossed, they will keep improving on it.

Another comment about this study:

Discussing hole feature menus is not a really big task.

For me - as a foreign language man - all these descriptions about hole feature judging were too much.

I ended up in most cases with N/A.

I'm part of the research team, and we thank you for the comments about the survey itself; we will definitely keep them in mind for next time!

For context, yes, this particular study focuses on something very specific. There are several reasons for this; something I find very interesting is understanding the underlying concepts and pain-points for this feature that are present in other workflows as well.

Thank you everyone for taking the survey thus far! I will update the instructions to allow any screen recording (not just screencast) to be accepted so more people can participate if they are interested. 🙂

Just took the survey. The problem was simple (too simple) but I see the point was to get feed back on different methods. I liked the opportunity to provide my views on Inventor in general. Good survey. Hope you get good info and keep up the good work. Makes our jobs easier and more efficient.

Every designed products requires a different set of common tools to create them.

Typically with SE and SW you can customize the UI to suit the design. This is where Inventor falls over.

I would seriously get the training in SW and SE and test the customization of the UI especially the s key in SW and the ribbon tool in SE.

I would also look at the measure tool in SE and SW. I would also look at the sketch tools of SE
