On both machines we are looking at the local material of the same part downloaded from vault... could application options have something to do with it?

Attached is a screengrab from 2 different workstations using different design data in styles and standards but the same materials and appearance libs. They are the same part but look different on the different workstations. Why are the left options limited compared to the right options? Why are the material appearance different, what setting controls this?

Inventor 2017, the material and appearance created in 2017, the right is 2017 design data, the left is some old styles and standards, maybe not migrated???

Thanks in advance

You sure you aren't looking at a "local" material vs the one in the material library..

If you do an "update" from the style/standard toolbar does it want to update it?

Well.. I don't use vault so I'm not sure if that plays into it but the local materials are not necessarily the same as the material library materials.. They were at one time but they aren't anymore and an "update" should sync them to the material library properties,etc...

@Anonymous wrote:

... from 2 different workstations using different design data in styles and standards but the same materials and appearance libs.

Seeing as the material & appearance libraries are part of the design data folder, are you really sure they are the same files?

If you make the 2 workstations use the same design data, does that change anything?

(or maybe delete the local version of the material library and download it again, making sure it's the same on both workstations)

If it's an appearance from a custom library you could also try opening it on the other workstation:

Other than that, i'm thinking the same as @mcgyvr that an "update styles" should fix the issue.

But that can only work if they are pulling the data from the same library.

The only other place i know of that tells inventor which libraries to use is the project file, is that the same on both workstations?

Hope something of this is useful...
