I wanted to try the new function in Inventor 2017.3 where you can create interactive tutorials. When I go to the Tutorials, it says "Connection Failed." I am not sure what to do to connect to the new function. I know that these are created and shared through A360, so I am wondering if it related to some inability to connect to my account through Inventor. I have never gotten Connected Design to work and that is related to my A360 account as well.

Thanks,

Steve

If you have problems connecting with Connected Design you will also have issues with the new Tutorials Gallery as they are both using the same basic architecture to run. To try and troubleshoot what is happening can you take a look at your Task Manager and tell me if there is a process called node running on your computer?

Can you send me a picture of the task manager with the Command Line column as well? Inventor only needs 2 processes called node. If you have 3 then either Inventor screwed something up when it opened or there is another program using node. The command line should tell us where that 3rd node process is running from. Something else you can try is to log off and log back in and see if any node processes are running. That should kill any node process that Inventor has created.

It looks like the Spark printer manager also has a node process running. It could be that the Spark software has a newer version of node than Inventor which could be causing some problems. Are you still using the Spark printer manager? If not try uninstalling it and restarting your computer. If you do need it you can try navigating to the node.exe in both C:\Program Files\Autodesk\DesktopConnect\forever and C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk Print Studio\PM\spark-print-mgr\bin\win. Right click on the node.exe in both places and find what version of node each is running.

Steve,

So the two node processes that are launched from the Desktop Connect folder are the ones that Inventor runs. We need those two processes in order to run the Tutorials Gallery and Inventor Connect. A lot of times when there are more than 2 node.exe running it causes problems but if you only have two running and are still seeing problems than it is probably another issue that you are running into. I will talk to our developers this morning and see what information we would need from you to diagnose this problem.
