Style conflict issue inventor 2017 (FDS)

Hi there,

here is what I am experiencing with my standard templates when I switch to anything other than "standard".

I keep updating the style in my templates, and this keeps showing up!!!!

any idea how to resolve this?

Thanks Sofia for the response, however it was not helpful. if you pay attention to the message box, it says: Standard: Default(Modeling) , there is no such a thing in style editor !!!! it just keeps bugging me. the only difference between the two standard part files is the units and this triggers the message. this is a bug that needs to be fixed.

@3DAli Are you opening the template file itself or starting a new part from that template and then trying to update the styles?

(So OPEN the template.. Not NEW from template)

default(modeling) is simply not visible/exposed in the style and standard editor but Inventor needs it for some reason or another they just don't allow you to modify/change it.

yes, the template file itself! not a new part, the snapshot above are from standard(mm).ipt which I had attached to my first post as well.

I keep updating it in the template file, save it close it, open new form template and it pops up with that message as if the problem is still there, I go back open the template again, update style shows the standard(modeling) in the list again and there goes the cycle, so something does not work properly.

I can confirm that updating the template with the styles from the style/standard library does not work for that template.

Your template may be "corrupt" in some way and not allowing the update to actually save..

to check that, I have saved As my working template "Standard.ipt" to "Standard(mm).ipt" and just modified the unit setting of the new file and this did not resolve the issue, I have the exact same problem with assembly template as well. as soon as you modify the unit , everything else being exact same, the message appears. therfore my file is not corrupt!

I was assisting a user with the same problem back in July of this year (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/part-style-default-modeling/m-p/6436773#M604799). Can you tell me if your design data folder is pointing to another location beside the normal/default one: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\Design Data\

I normally use imperial temps by default and never had any issue, I just found this out when I had to use a metric template and I created my standard metric template form a working copy of my imperial one for both part and assembly and it fails! my work around is to constantly go to document setting and change units. please let me know if you have any idea of what might be the cause.

Just to confirm.. Your active Inventor project file under folder options points Design Data to [Default]?

Well I never found a real answer for it and the user ended up resetting his design data backed to the default location and redid all of his templates from scratch (instead of migrating them from 2016 to 2017). Sorry I wasn't able to assist you but I was hoping this time I could find the real solution.

@Sofia.Xanthopoulou Sofia, When you try to start a new part using that template you just posted do you not get the error dialog box first posted in this thread?

I certainly do just like Ali does..
