Inventor Harness Reports

I've read/watched all the tutorials and examples I could find on the topic. They show how to change the config for a report, but nothing has explained just what information is available to pull into a harness report, where it comes from, and how to reference it.

I would like to customize the reports so that a customer's p/n is part of the report, but I don't know what attributes to change or how to reference them...

Not sure what you have come across but you need to setup the configuration files (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/Inventor-Help/files/GUID-2EDB006E-F818-4A58-B825-B3AE36155A9C-htm.html) to extract the information that you need. Its been too many years since I did anything with Cable & Harness but I wanted to point you in the right direction (to get you going).. I also think @mcgyvr may have some input on this matter (so I tagged him)...

Thanks Mark, but I've poured over this tutorial quite a bit. I know you say you've not done much with this in a while, but there is a 'stock' report config that gives me the following on a simple two wire harness...

Cable ID ,Wire ID ,Part Number ,Length ,Refdes 1 ,Pin 1 ,Strip Length ,Refdes 2 ,Pin 2 ,Strip Length
--- ,1L1 ,14AWG-BLK ,1050.395 ,--- ,5Q , ---,--- ,4P , ---
--- ,1L3 ,14AWG-BLK ,1050.931 ,--- ,5Q , ---,--- ,4P , ---

I know where the Wire ID is coming from from, and the 5Q & 4P are from the Wire Pin properties, but I cannot figure out where the Refdes is supposed to be coming from. I've filled that in on the connectors attached to the wires....

Like I said, I can't figure out where the info for these reports is supposed to be coming from so that I can properly fill them in to get what I need.

yeah tutorials for the "finer details" of cable/harness are slim to none and you are basically stuck fending for yourself....

The link Mark gave you should get you started..

I'm quite positive you can get a customer part number on there..

Check out the sample ones in the tutorial files and see what you can/can't do in those..

Sorry I can't be more help..I use the cable/harness module all the time but I've never actually needed to do nailboard drawings or any reports of any kind with the way I do stuff.. (but I'm not working at a cable/harness house at all either..) cable/harness is really setup for complex "automotive/aviation,etc.." harnesses and does them fairly well when using Autocad electrical,etc... to tie it all together.. I've never needed all that..
