Is it at all possible and easily performed to save the Frame Members that are generated from the Frame Generator as a weldment.iam?

So essentially what I am looking to accomplish is this:

FRAME MEMBER: ANSI 4 00000001:1 and ANSI 4 00000005:1 would become 27740-001.iam

Hi,

Edit! Just realised you only wanted a selection to be 27740-001.iam. As Curtis has stated you could use demote. If you wanted to create one parts you can still use the workflow from the link below.

I assume you only want to see the one item and no sub components in a structured assembly showing multiple levels? If you are creating a parts only parts list it will already be 27740-001.iam.

If you are using a structured parts list and want one item you would have to derive the assembly into a part: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-lt/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/InventorLT-Help/files/GUID-04363641-CCF9-4B2C-A3C4-AF676D6F7B1A-htm.html

Thanks

Stuart Smith

Group Data Management Consultant Graitec UK

stuart.smith@graitec.co.uk | www.graitec.co.uk

Blog: https://www.graitec.co.uk/blog/blogger/smith

Graitec Manufacturing Blog: https://www.graitec.co.uk/blog/categories/mechanical

Did you find this reply helpful?

Sure, I would be glad to. The way the process is set up to release prints to production once quoted requires each individual piece part to be a separate and unique part number. I cant just do a sketch in a weldment file and then go crazy inserting frame members then trimming them accordingly. Its a round a bout way to do things, I know, but its the nature of the beast.
