Cable & Harness Ribbon Bend Radius

Whenever I create ribbon cables, it always takes so long because I have a hard time getting the cable to represent in the rendered mode because it is saying the bend radius is too tight. Is there a way to turn off the "bend radius" requirement. I am not too concerned with the bend radius as it is only for visualization purposes.

How are you creating the ribbon cables? Tube and pipe, sweep, or some other method? Can you post some images please?

Never used ribbon cables but use wires all the time but...

Did you try to Edit the harness settings and uncheck "Active Bend Radius Checking" on the general tab..

Ribbon cables don't seem to have a bend radius multiplier like regular wires do so I'm not sure where its even pulling a bend radius multiplier from...

Good luck.. I know that can be a total PITA... I run into the "The sweep operation failed for the harness..." ALL the time when attempting wire routing..

Hi,

I did a quick review of the ribbon cable and I would like to see an example or a screencast capture of the issue so I can get a better handle on it. It sounds like it's pulling from the bend radius for the cable and harness end.

Are you not able to create a ribbon cable and give it a sharp bend,etc.. to reproduce Kevins issue?

I can easily get "The sweep operation failed" error but nothing about a bend radius error with a ribbon.

@Anonymous Kevin... Please post a screen capture or sample dataset that shows the issue so we can help.

Could someone please take a look at this attempt on a ribbon cable and tell me where I am going wrong. The bend radii do not seem too small.

Is that a statement or a question?

You can specify the minimum bend radius in your harness library for each wire type..

But it really doesn't do much nor force compliance with that.. until you do this..

yeah sorry.. ribbon cables do not include a min bend radius specification and are not part of the bend radius test functionality either..

Thats only for wires and "regular" cables not ribbon cables..
