We've been told a sister company is going to be using Solidworks Inspection (Solidworks Inspection) for FAI / PPAP. It works via OCR (hmm) for pdfs and tiff along with SW drawing files, but that's it. I'm thinking they hired these guys (http://inspectionxpert.com/solutions/ondemand/inspectionxpert/) to add in the SW functionality, but apparently Autodesk has not.

Is anyone aware of an equivalent for Inventor (and/or AutoCAD) that can gather up all the dimensions and tolerances on a drawing, flag them, and create an accompanying tabulation that can be used for First Article inspection?

In the Autodesk world or Autodesk products that are out there.. I don't think there's anything.. Maybe there's a 3rd party application out there but I don't know of any vendors at this point (but maybe someone else does). You may want to look at the Autodesk Exchange App store but its unlikely you will find a single app there that will do all that stuff.

Inspection xpert can be used with Inventor.. But its done through PDF files you generate from idw/dwg files as they have not integrated it fully with Inventor like they did with Solidworks..

The people there are usually very helpful.. give them a call and discuss and let them demo it for you or get you trial access..
