topic Projecting spline/sweep geometry to a sketch in idw in Inventor Forum

Hello,

I am trying to project geometry of hoses that were created using a profile swept along a spline in order to hatch them solid in an idw. The issue I am running into is that some of the hoses run behind other objects, and when I select the profiles I want projected it actually projects a different part of the curve, with no way that I know of to control what portion of the profile is projected.

I have attached an image as an example. In the image, the red arrow points to the part of the curve I selected, while the blue arrow points to what was actually projected. I need to be able to project both parts of the curve, but no matter where along the curve I click, only the blue portion gets projected.

You could turn on hidden lines, make your hatch, then turn off hidden lines.

Unfortunately this does not appear to work. Inventor does not seem to be able to recognize the region bounded by the projected geometry as a valid region to hatch. I suspect this is because the endpoints of the splines and lines are not coincident at each corner.

The region bounded buy the projected lines and splines in the attached screenshot is not recognized as a valid hatch region. In fact, clicking on Hatch Region does not even bring up the fill/hatch menu.

Hi

If the projected elements do not form a clear loop, they can be used as a reference for you to manually create such loops.
