&lt;P&gt;Are you sure the update hasn't been already applied?&amp;nbsp; There should be numerous log files associated to this&amp;nbsp; installation in your personal temp (%temp%) folder.&amp;nbsp; Zip and attach here.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Also did you disable your anti-virus application while doing this install?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;How did you install it?&amp;nbsp; Through your Autodesk Desktop App?&amp;nbsp; If so, go to your Autodesk Account and download it and then install it.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have Inventor Professionan 2017 R2 (buld 199) installed on my Windows 10 x64.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm trying to install R3, but having error:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Error applying patch to file c:\Config.MSI\PT7E84.tmp&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I disabled antivirus, I ran Inventor Setup using Administrator, but nothing helps.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Clicking Retry button doesn't help.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Attached are the screenshot and log file.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Not sure what I can try.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Messages like that usually points to some corruption in this folder (C:\Windows\Installer\$PatchCache$\Managed\) structure..&amp;nbsp; But I don't know where..&amp;nbsp; Let me see if I can dig up some more info for you...&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Update:&amp;nbsp; Also do you have any Inventor language packs installed and this Inventor is not based on the Inventor ETO (Engineering To Order) installation?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;So most likely that's the issue you're having..&amp;nbsp; You have Inventor ETO installed.&amp;nbsp; It is my understanding to remove the ETO add-in, try to install R3 and put the ETO add-in back in.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Do this as a test..&amp;nbsp; Go into Windows Control Panel/Program and Features/Add&amp;amp;Remove programs, located your Inventor, right mouse click and select uninstall/change.&amp;nbsp; Does the add/remove features, reinstall/repair and uninstall option appear?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;I would have you check for installed updates and remove all of you Inventor 2017 updates starting from the oldest to the newest:&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Autodesk\Uninstall Tool&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Looking at the log files the patch if failing when trying to update the file "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2017\Bin\Bin32\dwfcore_wt_ns.1.7.0.dll" not sure if this file doesn't exist or is corrupt.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You mentioned reinstalling Inventor but from the ETO install?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I would recommend re-downloading the Inventor Pro install files, &lt;A href="http://autodesk.creativevirtual15.com/autodesk/bot.html?isJSEnabled=1&amp;amp;businessArea=Root.Front%20Desk&amp;amp;startContext=Root.Front%20Desk" target="_blank"&gt;http://autodesk.creativevirtual15.com/autodesk/bot.html?isJSEnabled=1&amp;amp;businessArea=Root.Front%20Desk&amp;amp;startContext=Root.Front%20Desk&lt;/A&gt;, and uninstalling and reinstalling again.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;After uninstalling make sure the file mentioned above doesn't exist prior to reinstalling, if it does manually delete it before reinstalling.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;If the other clients are returning the same or a similar error, then yes I would recommend the same thing to allow the patch to be applied.&lt;/P&gt;
