You are correct. Use BS or ISO standards. If you are unsure, contact your local hardware stockist and ask them what standards their stock comply with 😉

Hi

Does anyone know of an explanation document regarding the different international standards of fasteners available within Inventor.

I get that if you are working in industry you / your company will know the specification of the fastening products it needs to specify and buy but as i am not in that position how would I go about creating appropriate exambles of fabricated assemblies for my pupils.

Being in the UK I know that I could use BS or more likely ISO but what are the differences and which should be used where?

regards

David

Thankyou I actually tried that some time ago - probably to vague a question - but they said they could get whatever standard I wanted rather than anything about the intended or likely use of all the different BS or ISO

Might extract a list of those particular BS and ISO and take that to them and ask a slightly different question - does Inventor have the name or title of each individual standard stored anywhere that could be brought into a display column perhaps ?

thanks again

regards

David

Hi 110_Turner,

Can you clarify where you want to see the standard? ie, in the BOM, in a parts list etc.?

To control which libraries are loaded - use the libraries button in the projects manager.

To control which libraries you can see, use the filter in the content center.

To see the standards column before you insert a part, show the families grid in the content center insert control or editor.

For insert parts, the standard usually makes up part of the filename/part number and description.

Does any of that help?

Paul
