Pattern a component in an assembly at irregular intervals

Am I missing the function that will allow me to pattern an original (seed) part at several different distances?

It seems this should be a simple thing to do?

Clarification; I have four parts arranged like I want them in an assembly that I would like to pattern 5 total times in one linear direction without having to place the four parts five separate times (that would be a pain). One at 54" from the original, 22" from the first copy, 24" from the second copy and 41" from the third copy. Is this possible or is there a way to do this that I'm missing?

Hello @Anonymous!

To clarify; did you mean several patterns at the same time or to have the option of changing pattern spacing between several choices?

For the first option, I'm not aware of a way since the pattern consumes the seed part.

For the second option, you can create parameters for the variable distances, then use those parameters in the pattern settings to be able to switch between.

Is there such thing as an "irregular pattern"? ...

You can suppress specific instances of a pattern if needed..

Not sure if this will help or not.. But you could make an irregular pattern as a part and then pattern the component in the assembly using that reference.

What did I say in my posting.. You would have to create a part with that irregular pattern and then use that pattern as a reference in the assembly. Meaning that patterned part would need to be placed into the assembly.. You can set that part as a reference BOM so it doesn't appear in any BOM.

The Feature Pattern is selected in the Component Pattern dialog.

Attach your assembly here and end all doubt.

Long way round... other software allows reuse of seed part.

Using a part with scketched pattern is a solution but it is a partial solution.

In assembly mode other cads permit to use this feature without operating on a part (creo use also tables in pattern)

i think it is a "conditio sine qua non" for a modern cad application
