Inventor Forum practice -- Introduction/Tutorial

Ahoy, All Inventors,

I am not so much 'new' to Inventor -- rather -- it is that I am not very accomplished.

Such as: I have done a few posts, and I have made a 'reply' to a post in response to my post, but have not seen/found it ???? That sort of thing.

I have not been clever enough to find a discussion of methods - practices - etc.

If such exists, please offer me some 'rudder-orders'.

Ahoy, Mike,

Specifically, tutorials to discuss in some detail using the Inventor Forum -- Posts etc.

I'm fairly familiar with the tutorials in various form to using Inventor 2017.

I've had some problems -w- 2017 -- likely hardware induced. Awaiting a computer upgrade -- more memory, fancier video card.

I have made previous reply to answers to my posts, did not see them. I'll see if this shows

If I understand what you are looking for.. Go to this posting (meaning return to the forum/posting).. Hover over name located above your aviator, when the tag comes up, select your name again and your profile will appear. This profile contains all the links to your posting you created and replied.

Update: Just saw your reply to @mdavis22569.. Other things to consider...

1. Never share personal information such as your serial #, (Autodesk) contract #s, and etc. Watch for that info because its in log files, images, crash reports and etc.

2. Never reply to a forum posting using your email system. In doing so, your email signature is shared here as well and I would assume you don't want that personal info out on a world wide public user forum.

3. This is a professional site and it deserves respect. It is mainly a user based forum where user's are volunteering their time to help others. We are not Autodesk employees. In the end what I'm trying to say don't take it out on us.. We are only trying to assist to the best of our ability. I and others fully understand being frustrated and you come here seeking answers but watch the tone (of words) and always know that we trying our best to help you.

4. Although we will assist you, don't come looking here for others to do you work. Provide what you have, what you are struggling with and we can go from there.

5. Always and I means always indicate what version of Inventor you are using including service packs and hot fixes. This also helps when sharing files so we know what version was used to create this information or how to provide solutions to you.

6. Talking about sharing files, if its an assembly, presentation, drawings, and etc that you're sharing we need all the files that make up those assemblies, drawings, and etc.

7. Use the tools that are here, like photos, links and attaching files. Sometimes sharing unknown places with us, a few like myself don't like to click on the link in the fear of virus and malwares. Perhaps share a link using your A360 Drive or A360 account if the files are too big.

8. The more detail you can provide, its just easier. But a posting that just goes on with words doesn't help either. You may understand your design but we don't.

9. Other items that others will chime in with..

Thanks for your very substantial response.

I have been looking for general information on appropriate activity on the Forum -- how the post/reply/kudos/accept as a solution works. Pretty much self explanatory, but many 'nuances' are not yet clear, but are being deduced by paying attention.

It really is a genuine GIFT to we 'less-lettered' folk to have you professionals highly competent volunteers to show us how.
