Style Library Update Issue

I have an .ipt template that I shows the message in Pic1 every time I open it.

I want to update the styles from the style library so i click the "Update" button. The dialog box pops up and looks like Pic2; as you can see the "Compare Materials Against" drop-down shows "Inventor Material Library" and there are no styles that need to be updated.
I change the drop down to "Autodesk Material Library" (Pic3) there are 2 styles ("Default" and "Generic") that have local changes and need to be updated with the styles from the style library (if i set the drop-down to "Autodesk Appearance Library" the dialog box shows the same 2 styles need updates)
I select "Yes To All" and hit OK.
I save the file as a template and overwrite the original.
When I open the template now I get the same message as Pic1
I repeat steps 1-3
Then I click "Update" yet again and the drop-down is set to "Inventor Material Library" but this time the 2 styles ("Default" and "Generic") are showing that they have local changes (the dialog box looks exactly like Pic3 except that the drop-down is set to "Inventor Material Library")
I select "Yes To All" and hit "OK".
I click "Update" (shoot me) and the dialog box looks like Pic2 again
I set the drop-down to "Autodesk Material Library" and get Pic3 again ("Autodesk Appearance Library looks the same as well)
the cycle continues.

I have checked my project file (Folder Options set to "Default" and project is "read-write") and my application options (set to my style Library) and tinkered with various other settings.

Anyone had this problem?

@Anonymous, try to purge Default and Generic(3) and then update the styles to make the part as a template part. Then, it'll work.

I also had to edit the material and change the name of the appearance to get it to purge the generic appearance but it worked! Thanks!
