You don't do that in the assembly..

You do that at the part level..

Is the bead added in real life after assembly? probably not (could be I suppose)

Ok so now my boss wants me to add like little formed beads around the flange and the wrap around in the drawing linked below.does anyone now of a way that could be done. I've tried doing it inside the assembly area but when i make the part it ends up trying to cut into the part instead and will not allow me to extrude the piece.

Sure.. That should be added to the initial revolve feature or contour roll for the other part..

First sketch should have that shape in it.. (lid and 3 inch wrap around parts)

So i would have to make it in the initial sketch for the flange and for the wrap around?

You don't "have to" but that really makes it simple and is the best place for them..

But you could just do another revolve/cut,etc..

I assume you are talking about the rolled beads around the bottom of the wrap around and top/bottom of the lid

Yes except my problem inside the assembly model the revolve would only cut and not extrude and i could not pick up any project geometry as well from the other parts.

Well the flange and the wrap around get pinched together through assembly process so they get those beads through the assembly process due to the machine that pinches them together.

btsmith

you could add extrusions to the unfolded wrap and the form in the sketch of the flange, the rtesult would give the assembled rolled groove I assume you are looking for.

Thank you. I did end of getting that bead i was just having trouble trying to figure out where to create it. I wanted to create it in the assembly model but it would only cut and not extrude. So i had to go into each separate part and make that form which sucked but i did get it done.
