Question about material color of published Content Center

I have published a part to the content center. Now when I place one of the members, it is not the correct color. My question is:

1. Where does the published parts get the color information?

2. Once published, can this be changed?

When I published my part, it looked like this. The color is Aluminum-Flat.

Now, after I publish the part and place one of the members into my assembly, it shows like this. It is a very shiny Chrome look with blue edges.

I thought there may be a color over-rides, but when I click the color-override, it says "..part contains no color overrides".

I tried deleting the family and republishing, but I get the same thing.

Are you sure you have the material set correctly in the CC table? Looks to me like they are different.

As for the blue lines, no idea!

Not sure why your color is wrong and it's been ages since i had to edit our CC stuff but regarding your points:

1. Material and/or color can be mapped, it should be drawn from the published part/style library.

This may not be the only place to map this or even the correct one, but i hope it gives you an idea...

Like i said, i haven't edited our CC in a while and i'm not going to mess with it just to figure this out.

Neils,

The only parameter that I mapped when I published the part was the "Cutlength". I will change the mapping for the material and see if it makes a difference.

Hi Kirk,

Let me ask you a question. When was the source last saved? I suspect it might have carried a migrated appearance style from prior releases. The style carries legacy appearance (closer to how it looked in Inventor 2012 and earlier). Now on 2017, the appearance is fully migrated to the "correct" appearance. Please feel free to send me the source part (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com) and I can take a look and see if the appearance behavior is expected.

I agree with @-niels-. I would just set the material as what it needs to be in the CC editor, also make yourself an "Appearance" column if you want and set the appearance to be something other than the material default it you would like. Just make sure to refresh your standard content to see the changes.
