Sorry I don't have any useful tutorials for you to create the animation.
But I did want to mention that you cannot export a video with a transparent background, you will have to export it as single frames (loads of image files) and then put them back together in a video editing package of your choice.

Hi

I have a full assembly of my main enclosure, PCB and Various parts.

Is it possible, using Inventor Studio, to make a very short video where my enclosure opens up, my PCB, and various parts start getting attached to their specific locations? My enclosure has a hinged door, which needs to be opened and closed for the effect.

I would also like to have the background transparent so that when I import it into a video editor for a promotional video, I can change the background to different colours.

Is there any video or document-based tutorial I can follow?

Thanks

DJ

@DJ2024 wrote:

Is it possible, using Inventor Studio...

Bottom line, it is possible but there is a learning curve.

Here are two very different tutorials to get you started.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipjw7PUH6vs&list=PLp5izJt_zvN2tblwbAMAuqGJGDx0U1G-w&index=3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_4-3k8wZh0&list=PLp5izJt_zvN2tblwbAMAuqGJGDx0U1G-w&index=5

These videos are not comprehensive as they were meant to be supplemented by my in-class instruction. So ask questions. (For example I don't think I discuss saving and compiling individual slides for transparent background - but you might discover that in the process.) I am sure a Google search can turn up many others. (search for old TFI videos - I might find the links for you if you have trouble finding as the channel name has changed)

One uses Presentation and the other uses Studio.

We can also look at Publishing from Dynamic Simulation to Studio, but all of this takes some time to master.

If you can Attach your project here as you progress - that will dramatically reduce the learning curve.

The short answers:

Is this animation possible? Yes

Can I make the background transparent? Not natively.

The more complicated answers:

I have not checked the links posted here, but I imagine they'll show the basics of Inventor animations. Which could possibly include animating with constrains, joints, or positional representations. All are viable, some work better than others.

In regards to the transparent background, rather than export the animation in frames and edit each individual frame, you could possibly change the background color of Inventor to be 0,255,0 which should be true green and then in a video editing software you could add a "chroma-key" to filter out true greens and give it a green-screen effect. This only works provided your assembly does not have anything colored green. A chroma-key could be used with other colors. Green is just the most common.

Editing to add: depending on your software experience, sometimes it is easier to use a dedicated animation program like Maya, 3dsMax, or Blender. The output is generally better as well.
