Just adding something, don't know enough autocad to be sure...

Your error states there is a problem with polylines, so what if you export from inventor > open in Autocad and convert polylines into regular lines > open in Inkscape?

---edit---

Your last dxf opens fine in adobe Illustrator, so i saved it out as .svg in hopes Inkscape can open it.

Hi there and welcome to this forum.

When you export a face to dxf you can change the options. Maybe it will work if you use another file version of dxf.

Betreff: Inventor 2017 DXF to Inkscape

I've only read about Inkscape import formats, and it depends on 3D or 2D data as source.

At first try 2D:

- Save as Dxf out of Inventor

- Import Dxf into ACAD

- Export from ACAD as EPS

- Import EPS into Inkscape. There are Add-Ins to Inkscape available for that

Maybe you'll have success. Maybe not ..

I'm working on installing the EPS add on for inkscape.

I was thinking the same, I just do not understand why all converters makes an error when I try to convert the DXF file directly exported from Inventor.

It usually works fine for me to use same DFX file in RDWorks and in Inkscape but Inkscape just makes and error no matter what DXF file I try even when the file works in RDWorks 😕

(And I am getting really frustrated as I used to work in Siemens NX 10.0 but the license ran out and from that I could export to SVG and DXF without trouble, and I have a project I am in a rush to finish so your help and suggestions are very much appreciated!)

Another way could be using Rhino, if it's available for you.

- Import DXF to Rhino

- Export from there to AI or SVG

- Open AI (or SVG) in Inkscape

I can test your file with conversion from DXF to AI and SVG
