Hello.

I have just recently started to work with T&P in IV and have some questions.

How does everyone work with hydraulic hoses? Especially with flanged connection (SAE flanges). Ex Parkers SAE.

Was trying to create a flanged fitting with three connection points so that when I have finished my routing of the hose, just connect the retainingflange directly on the fittings third point, but when i try to add my new hose with my fittings in the Tube & Pipe Styles it wont let me save it.

So I was thinking, is there another way to do this or is there a diffrent working method?

Hi @Jesper_S, welcome to the forum.

I haven't authored any hose fitting but I would investigate the existing fitting in CC (Content Center), for example, "Parker SAE Flanged Connection - 90 Elbow" and keep in mind that the order of authoring connections is important.

1 - flanged end - End Treatment "Flanged"

2 - hose end - End Treatment "Hose - Permanent"

3 - SAE end - End Treatment "Flanged"

Have you authored the part as "Hose Fittings"?

Send the iPart over and we will take a look at it.

Hi.

I have looked at the CC parts and they only have two connectionpoints authored.

I have also tried to alter the order of authoring but no luck.

Yes its authored as a hose fitting.

I have managed to create a hose, by starting a new route, manually adding the fittings and flanges and then

created a flexible hose without any fittings. But i think its to much manual work using the "Connect fitting" to attach the flange to

the hose nipple.

Thanks.

Did a full test all morning and couldn't get it to work with 3 connections.

For some reason, it needs/expects 2 connections only. I keep getting the "do you want to save style change" and hitting Yes has no effect.

I suppose you know that you don't really need a 3'rd connection for the flange and you can rather connect to the circular edge...

I have been able to get the "third" connection to work, but not with a hose fitting. I think mine was three flanged connections. That said, the initial results were good for using the third connection for a backing ring. However, the more I used it the more unstable it proved to be and I went back to using the circular edge for a connect or even using a simple Insert constraint on it. The third connection is good in concept, but just doesn't seem to execute well. And from what I am reading here, won't work at all with hose connections.

Thanks for having a look at my problem.

Probabaly i will remove the third point and just use the circular edge instead.

To bad it didnt work, would have saved me and others at my company lot of work.

@Jesper_S wrote:

To bad it didnt work, would have saved me and others at my company lot of work.

Just go backward .... author the flange with 2 connections (normal) and place the flange before you create the hose Run. Then when you create the hose you connect the nipple to the flange.

------------------

I have changed the authoring info for your flange. Added a second connection, but very important, to have in in the same place as the first connection.

You don't want to change the default connection on the hose fitting in case you decide to place the hose and fitting on its own. You do however want to alter the flange and create a new connection all of them in the same place just pointing opposite.

In this way, you can place the hose on its own without errors or place the flange first and then connect the hose fitting to the existing flanges.

One more trick ... If the flange is not connected it is very difficult (tricky) to connect the hose fitting to it. Connect the flange first so you only get one connection left before adding the hose fitting or .... author the flange connections backwards 1 - hose connection 2 - bolting point

Here's a screencast
